“It can be hard to explain the Danish word ‘hygge’ (pronounced a bit like ‘hooga’),” claims VisitDenmark, the Danish tourism organisation.
“Roughly it translates to cosiness but that definition doesn’t quite cover it… ”
VisitDenmark adds: “’Hygge’ is so much more and always involves creating a nice warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with people around you.”
To help visitors to the Danish capital VisitDenmark has worked out a Top 10-list over the most ‘hygge’ things to do in Copenhagen, including some of our favourites, like Christmas in Tivoli Gardens, a picnic in The King’s Garden (best in summer, though) and lunch at Restaurant Kronborg.
