August is the month for festivals and street parties in Copenhagen.
One of the most lively and vibrant festivals is Copenhagen Pride, which has been voted The Best Street Party by the readers of the highly respected city guide AOK.
The party culminates on Saturday 24 August at 4 pm at the City Hall Square.
Colourful and Unique Party
“It is one of the most colourful and unique parties in Copenhagen,” wrote the city guide AOK as it awarded Copenhagen Pride the title as The Best Street Party in Copenhagen. Copenhagen Pride is a four day festival high-lighting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual culture with free movie screenings, concerts, debates, parties and of course the popular parade through the city.
Plan your Saturday at Copenhagen Pride 2013
Copenhagen Pride 2013 invites the entire city, and it’s visitors, to celebrate diversity as the Pride Parade marches (or more correctly dances) its way from Frederiksberg Town Hall to Copenhagen City Hall on Saturday 24 August at 1 pm. The party culminates at 4 pm with the free open-air show on the City Hall Square. The concert is hosted by TV personality Camilla Ottesen, who expects around 40,000 happy spectators.
Join the impromptu street parties in the inner city after the concert: Studiestræde, focused around Cosy and TS Bar, attracts your typical inner-city hipsters, Copenhagen’s oldest (and kitchiest) – gay bar Centralhjørnet closes down the street for live euro-pop concerts, while Knabrostræde entices a very mixed crowd with draft beers, classic Danish dishes served in the street by Restaurant Kronborg and DJ’s provided by Copenhagen’s biggest LGBT club, Club Christopher.
